I just presented negative news on the equity performance of my company to the chairman. what do i do? He was so mad that I presented some news that was so bleak and negative that he did not want to accept the report. All I did was report how the financial markets and earnings resulted for the past year. I also benchmarked the results with other similar companies in the same industry. Our company did not do too hot, but the Chairman got mad at me for reporting such negative results. All I did was do my job and analyze the data. What should I do to get back the good grace from Senior Management?

Financial Aid appeal letter..help plz?? Please tell me what do you think of this should i add more details whatever ?? Dear Office of Student Financial Aid, I’m very devastated by the news of my financial aid suspension. I do not blame anyone but myself for this very sad consequence. I have let a lot of people down, especially myself due to my reckless attitude for which I do regret deeply and sincerely. Last a year and half is been very difficult for me and my family. I lost my grandfather and 2 of my uncles. I had to attend my grandfather funeral in Spring 07. This is why I couldn’t take my finals and failed all my classes. Also my father is a construction worker who did not a have job for the last few months due to collapse in the housing market. We are 7 people in the family and I’m the oldest child, and now I have to share some of the responsibilities to see my family getting through these inconveniences and I and my younger brother have been working on jobs to pay for our expense like rent and utility bills. These are the reasons that I was less focused in my school studies and disciplines, for which I offer my sincere regrets. I do realize that I neglected my studies and I would like another chance to do better in them. I have compiled a list of steps I need to take in order to be successful in school: 1. I will resign from my full-time job in order to give my full attention to school. 2. I will obtain a tutor for my most difficult classes by becoming familiar with the tutoring center on campus. 3. I will talk to each of my instructors personally to find out how I can do well in their classes. 4. I will manage my time wisely so that I can balance my family and studies together. 5. I will attend all of my classes to take advantage of what they have to offer. My goal is to earn a degree in Political Science so that I can make a difference in the lives of poor people in my country. Our government is corrupt and irresponsible for its own people. People don’t trust the government anymore. This is very important to me because I want restore people faith in the government by working for them and stand by them. But I can only do this if I can apply for financial aid. I am a hard-working student, and I would like the chance to prove to you that my next semester will not be a disappointment. I will try my hardest to be good role model to my family and other students. Therefore, I would humbly request this committee to give me one more chance to continue my studies uninterruptedly so that I can prove myself that I have what it takes to follow my dream. I’m looking forward to an early and favorable hearing of my case. A truly repented pupil.
Is the US economy about to collapse? By Julian Beltrame, The Canadian Press OTTAWA - North American markets roiled and the Canadian dollar tumbled Monday in the wake of the sale of New York investment bank Bear Stearns for a fraction of its former value, with some economists tentatively drawing comparison to the 1929 stock market crash. The volatility began overseas after the U.S. Federal Reserve held an emergency meeting on Sunday and cut its key rate by one-quarter of a point and said it was willing to back-stop institutions with urgent loans. In Canada, banking stocks took it on the chin as concerns spread about their level of exposure to the U.S. subprime fiasco, with the sector dropping 2.8 per cent in early afternoon trading, and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (TSX: CM.TO) stock tumbled nearly five per cent. http://ca.news.finance.yahoo.com/s/17032008/2/biz-finance-financial-markets-turmoil-stirs-economists-memories-1929-crash.html OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper is warning Canadians to brace for fiscal belt-tightening as a looming economic collapse in the U.S. threatens to make waves north of the border. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Crime/2007/12/21/4735871-sun.html Proud American Harper is a Conservative who is in love with Bush - not an alarmist at all Idiot sean We got our "statehood" in 1867 from Her Majesty Queen Victoria --- get it straight

Where can I find mergers and acquisitions data for free? Hallo there, I'm student writing a seminar paper on Business Valuation using the market transaction approach. Now I need to find some information on recent M&A cases in Business Intelligence software industry. But it turn out to be that it seems not that easy to get the data for free, I'm just a student and cannot afford for the subscription fee at big online databank. Maybe somebody could tell me how to get such information for free. I tried to check out the recent news like Oracle acquired Hyperion, but it just take too much time and I need more detailed information on the financial side... Thanks a lot in advance!!!
What moves the CSCO stock? Hi everyone, as much as I read current financial news and try to understand the market moves as a whole and the influence of the market over a single stock I some times find it hard to understand the movement of a single stock according to news dealing with that own stock. When I read the following article I expect the stock to rise. But instead it falls sharply. Could you please read the article and give me some hints on what caused the stock to fall like this?? http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/cisco-see-earnings-growth-increased/story.aspx?guid=%7B270D5D7B%2D8FCC%2D452D%2DA33D%2D8D7ABAAD9353%7D Many thanks Micron
What happened today in the stock market? I saw this headline on my local news site "Dow Sinks 225 Points As Financial Sector Struggles" Can someone explain to me what happened today? Does it effect you and me (working class)?
GASOLINE PRICE: Still high even though recent drop? Sorry to all if this is a common sense question but I have trouble figuring out why gasoline prices are stuck at the $2.00 or above range. I know gasoline price is based on 15% taxes, 14% distribution and marketing, 15% refining, and 55% crude oil. Supply and demand also play a big role with this pricing because our markets base every decision around this. But if you keep up with most recent financial news, our supply is more than ample of what we need and it is still building. What toggles me is that our crude oil is still around $60 a barrel and years ago we had barrel prices as low as $20. If we had ample supply then and ample supply now, why are we still around $60 a barrel. I noticed OPEC having emergency meetings to cut production due to the recent drop but how did they get by in earlier years when it was a lower price? It is also said that some of the OPEC members were not even producing the quota they were reporting yet we still have a very high supply but paying for it
Is greed the primary motivator of criminal trespassers and their supporters? THE WALL STREET JOURNAL As U.S. leaders craft policies to curb illegal immigration from Mexico, the U.S. Federal Reserve is devising programs to extend banking services to undocumented immigrants. A new remittance program aims to bring Mexican migrants who send money home into the mainstream U.S. financial system, regardless of their immigration status. Dubbed "Directo a Mexico," the remittance program enables U.S. commercial banks to make money transfers for Mexican workers through the Federal Reserve's own automated clearinghouse, which is linked to Banco de Mexico, the Mexican central bank. To use the service, a Mexican need only possess a matricula consular, an ID issued by the Mexican consulate in most major U.S. cities to those with proof of Mexican birth or citizenship, or a picture ID card issued by the U.S. or another foreign government. The idea is to make it cheaper and safer for Mexican workers to send funds to their relatives. "We offer an extremely competitive exchange rate," said Elizabeth McQuerry, an Atlanta-based assistant vice president for the Federal Reserve Bank's retail payments office. "We cost a third of other providers." The majority of immigrants currently make transfers, which average $350 each, through companies like Western Union or a hodgepodge of wire-transfer firms, couriers and others that operate out of storefronts in Hispanic enclaves. Family members then collect the wired cash at a shop in their town or village. The Federal Reserve Bank and Banco de Mexico launched a cross-country road show during the summer to promote the new funds-transfer program to commercial banks. Banks that offer the service hope to attract new customers. Indeed, one of the Federal Reserve Bank's goals is to use the program as a springboard for drawing hundreds of thousands of immigrants into the formal U.S. banking system because commercial banks require that those wanting the service first open a savings account. "People who didn't have bank accounts establish a relationship with us," said James Maloney, chairman of Mitchell Bank in Milwaukee, one of the first banks to offer the Federal Reserve Bank's remittance scheme. "It's great for our business." Acknowledging that many Mexicans sending money home are illegal immigrants, the Federal Reserve's brochure poses the following frequently asked question: "If I return to Mexico or am deported, will I lose the money in my bank account?" The answer: "No. The money still belongs to you and can be easily accessed at an ATM in Mexico using your debit card." A team at the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta joined forces with a team at the Mexican central bank to design the Directo a Mexico program in response to a mandate by President Bush, following the U.S.-Mexico Partnership for Prosperity struck by Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox in 2001. One of the stated objectives was to lower the cost paid by Mexican workers to send money to their native country. The Federal Reserve Bank's brochure touts the favorable foreign-exchange rate, based on the official rate, and a low transfer fee. "In addition, your money is safer in the bank than in your pockets or underneath the mattress," the brochure says. Retail banks that participate in the program charge as little as $2.50 a transfer compared with $40 charged by some transfer services. Retail banks in the program pay the Federal Reserve 67 cents per transfer. Most immigrants operate in a cash economy outside the formal banking system, where they have neither credit nor identity. In a post 9/11 era, bringing immigrants into the banking system - and tracking their remittances - is vital to security, supporters say. Critics, however, say the Federal Reserve Bank is coddling illegal immigrants and helping them engage in capital flight. "Anything that makes it easier for people to live in this country illegally is an inducement for illegal immigration," said Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an immigration-restrictionist group. "On top of that, it is draining money out of our economy." Latin American migrants in the U.S. transferred $53 billion to $55 billion to their native countries last year, according to the Inter-American Development Bank. About $20 billion went to Mexico, $12 billion to Central America and the Dominican Republic, and the rest to South American countries. Remittances sent by Mexicans topped $15.5 billion in the first eight months of this year, 20 percent higher than the amount sent during the same period in 2005, according to Mexico's central bank, and this year's annual figure is expected to hit a new record. Savings scraped together by nannies, painters and others working abroad are now Mexico's second-largest source of foreign revenue, after oil exports and ahead of tourism. Since the Federal Reserve launched the program last year, about 150 U.S. financial institutions have enrolled. While most Mexicans continue to avoid banks, consumers using the program seem happy with it. Julian Gimenez, who works for a landscaping company in Milwaukee, for years had sent money to his wife, Catalina, in Jalisco, Mexico, through a wire-transfer company in his Latino neighborhood. Now, Gimenez uses Mitchell Bank. "It's cheaper to send the money and it arrives faster than any other place," he said. Last month, the program was expanded to enable migrants in the U.S. to open an account for relatives to whom they plan to send money. A bank teller in the U.S. can open the account remotely on a Web site set up by Mexico's Banco del Ahorro Nacional y Servicios Financieros, the development bank known as Bansefi, which has a vast network of branches in urban and rural areas. The beauty of the program, says Bansefi's Chief Executive Officer Javier Gavito, is that the "unbanked population" on both sides of the border gets into the formal banking system. In Mexico, only half of all adults hold a bank account. Directo a Mexico "revolutionizes the remittance market," said John Herrera, co-founder of Latino Community Credit Union, which has five branches in North Carolina and participates in the remittance program. "U.S. banks have realized that these working-class folks are sending real money back home," said Herrera. Also, I am going to need a lots of financial articles about the event...I would also like to know if the market is efficient , semi-strong efficient, weak-form efficient or inefficient... Actually I dont know the company name. Can you become a stockbroker with a recent bankruptcy? Hi everybody, I will be interviewing with a firm at the end of April and just have a few questions. First of all, I am 22 years old, a very hard worker and will do whatever it takes to make it. I have just got into investments and the market over the last 9months and decided that this is the career for me. However, in college I got myself into some financial trouble. Living off of credit cards, young and stupid, I ended up having to declaire bankruptcy a month ago. The firm (a major one at that) I am speaking with does not know this but I am going to tell them during the interview if all goes well. Kind of drop a bomb I guess. Any suggestions on how I should give the news? Will the firm even consider me with BK? Or are my dreams shot? Also, can anyone give any advice for someone coming into the field? I have read many articles on the subject but it seems that every article I read is a 'cut and paste' from somewhere else.
which events should intraday forex traders look out for? besides the non-farm payroll and FOMC announcements.... which are the other events that will affect the financial markets most (in order of strength maybe)? i'm looking at this from a forex trader's (ie. intraday) point of view, and would like to identify events where a trader would be better off not trading. no news-trading for me, thanks :O)
High oil prices are caused by large investor speculations? If so, what will do the government of the USA do from a regulation of financial markets point of view to stop this? Curious About Employment Prospects For Economists? (high school senior) My family believes that Economics is a purely academic major, Learning for learning's sake. No jobs to find. Wish to hear an expert in the field's opinion on this. I read a news article which dealt with the demand for Economists, but I believe it mostly pertained to individuals who had completed Master's or Doctorate. Most jobs involved seemed to be in academia. Curious what immediate & short-term employment prospects for a graduate of, say, BU, with a BA in Econ. would be. Prior to discussing this topic in-depth with my family, I had sort-of assumed that most corporations of significant size employed some sort of "market/financial analysts" that often have a background in Economics. I understand that both "Finance" and "Marketing" are offered as individual majors at some schools. Is it far harder for someone who majors in a [general?] subject like Economics to obtain work than for someone in a [more specific?] field like Finance or Marketing? Not sure if it was clear, but my fam doesn't want me to go into Econ. b/c they figure it will be diff. to get job. Other major that interests me is Aerospace Eng. I actually want to double major in both (no time/space for a marketing minor). I'll g to a uni like BU. Hwvr, BU makes it difficult to dbl major, and it's likely that I won't succeed in picking up the second major once i start my schooling. Thus, it's imp. to me to pick which 1 I want to declare 1st, the Econ or the AS b/c I may be stuck wid it. I figure dat if I do AS, I can atleast do Econ. as minor in & more Econ. as Master. But, I worry dat all the Eng. fields r oversaturated (everyone in HS majors in Engineering), and I want to do something different that's also viable by majoring in Economics. But if I'll be a laughingstock in 5 years, when HS friends are earning 20x more, I should reconsider choosing Econ. I don't have enough of a passion for Econ. to pick it if it's so un-viable for survival when compared to AS Eng.
Financial uncertainty in housing market, is now a good time to buy a house? With all the news about Wall Street financial instituions crashing and burning needing government bailouts to survive, I have to ask a question about the fundamental problem...the housing bubble burst. Home ownership purchases are the cornerstone to the US economy correct? When times are good, housing demand goes up, prices typically increase. When times are bad, demand drops, prices decline. We are obviously in the latter time. Since this finaincial crisis began, prices are declining, so is this a good time time to buy or build a new home assuming the buyer has a stable source of income and/or financing? Since it seems Wall street finds home investment so troubling, are banks determined not to finance home mortgages anymore? When did home mortgages become a bad thing? Is it safer to wait out the crisis by not shopping and buying homes right now or not? Both on a macro and micro level! What does Wall Street want the average home buyer to do?
Is the stock market expected to drop significantly in the next six months? My financial advisor advised me to move more of my investments into the bond market. He said that equities have been at all time highs, and the market is expected to correct itself sometimes between summer and this winter. However, I can't find any articles on this expected correction. Anyone know more about this? Also, what are some good online news organization where I can read articles about the stock market?
With large diversified corporations and conglomerates like News Corporation and Sony....? What actually happens at their Headquarters, and where else do they manage companies from? I.e. not all of the companies they own e.g. Sony Entertainment and 20th Century Fox are based at the company's HQ, so what happens at the HQ, (as well as with any major corporation) and what happens at other bases? Are any subsidiaries based at the HQs of MNCs, or is it just all the superior financial, trading, marketing etc. stuff that happens at company HQs? Hope that all makes sense. Thanks in advance.
